Fred, a 1-year-old tuxedo cat, is looking for his forever home and was featured Friday on ABC7 Chicago's monthly "Forever Home Friday" segment.
Fred is currently in the care of Barb's Precious Rescue, a Palatine-based nonprofit cat rescue founded by Barb Weber. Weber described Fred as a friendly, affectionate cat who enjoys attention and is ready to be adopted. If Fred is adopted, another available cat, Maxine, a 2-year-old lap cat, is also seeking a home.
Barb's Precious Rescue is expanding with plans for a new dedicated adoption center designed to create a more welcoming space for families and improve adoption outcomes. The rescue has helped more than 6,000 cats and kittens since 2014.
To support the expansion, the organization will host its Haven for Hope Gala on Feb. 21 at Chandler's Chophouse in Schaumburg. While tickets are sold out, the public can participate in the silent auction beginning Feb. 14, featuring hotel stays, dining experiences and other items.
