CHICAGO (WLS) -- Former Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley is starting a merchant bank with his son and an associate.

A LinkedIn page has been set up for the "AI-first" business, Great Lakes Global Partners, founded by the former mayor, his son, Patrick Daley, and his associate, Adam Hitchcock.

The page describes GLGP as "a special situations merchant bank operating at the nexus of capital markets and public policy" with between two and 10 employees.

The business' LinkedIn page says, "At GLGP, we identify and develop complex investment opportunities that traditional financial institutions often cannot pursue-deals that demand both political fluency and disciplined execution. Our work spans North America and Europe, and we maintain an industry-agnostic approach, pursuing opportunities where capital and policy converge. This combination of Great Lakes Global Holdings and Tur Partners Llc represents the culmination of two decades of friendship and professional collaboration across government and finance."

Richard M. Daley served as mayor from 1989 to 2011. He served on the Illinois State Senate from 1972 to 1980 and as Cook County state's attorney from 1981 to 1989. His father, Richard J. Daley, served as Chicago's mayor from 1955 to 1976.
