Woman shot to death while getting off private bus in Fuller Park, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Someone on a private bus shot and killed a woman as she exited the vehicle on Chicago's South Side early Saturday morning, police said.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the Fuller Park neighborhood near West 54th Place and South Shields Avenue around 12:40 a.m.



A 40-year-old woman was getting off of the bus when someone inside took out a gun and fired shots, striking her in the thigh, police said.

The Chicago Fire Department treated the victim on the scene before taking her to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.



The Cook County Medical Examiner identified the woman as Odeal G. Curley. The ME said she lived on the same block where she died.

No one is in custody, and Area One detectives are investigating.

Police did not immediately provide further information about the shooting.
