Man found fatally shot on Garfield Park sidewalk, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man was found fatally shot on a West Side sidewalk late Friday night, Chicago police said.

Officers responded to a call about a person shot near West Adams Street and South Hamlin Boulevard just before 11:30 p.m.



Responding officers found an unresponsive 45-year-old man on the sidewalk.

The victim, who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his body, was transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified him as Carl McDonald.



What led up to the shooting was not immediately clear.

There is no one in custody, and Area Four detectives are investigating.

Police did not immediately provide further information about the shooting.
