Elderly couple killed in car crash in Geneva, police say

GENEVA, Ill. (WLS) -- An elderly couple was killed in a car crash Friday afternoon in the west suburbs.

The two-vehicle crash happened around 1:40 p.m. at Bricher Road and Fisher Drive in Geneva, police said.



A 85-year-old Geneva man driving a 2005 Toyota Corolla attempted to turn onto Bricher Road from Fisher Drive when his vehicle was struck by a BMW X3 that was traveling on Bricher, Geneva police said.

The 85-year-old driver and his 88-year-old wife who was a passenger in the vehicle, were both killed in the crash. They have not yet been identified.



The BMW was driven by an 18-year-old man, police said. There were also three passengers, ages 18 to 19. Their vehicle caught fire after the crash, but was extinguished.

One BMW passenger was taken to a hospital, and the driver and another passenger were treated at the scene for injuries.

No charges have been filed and the crash remains under investigation, Geneva police said.
