Gurnee Mills celebrates 25th anniversary by opening time capsule

GURNEE, Ill. (WLS) -- People took a step back in time Monday at Gurnee Mills as the mall celebrated its 25th anniversary. To celebrate, they opened a time capsule.

The time capsule had been buried since the day the mall opened back on August eighth, 19-91.

- Wheaties box with Michael Jordan
- Chicago Bulls 1991 championship
- Inaugural issue of Gurnee Mills Magazine
- Local newspapers from August 8, 1991
- A ribbon from Gurnee Mills' opening ceremony
- Fanny pack
- Cassette tape
