MERRILLVILLE, Ind. (WLS) -- The Higher Institute of Arts and Technology (HIAT), Merrillville's only charter school, is celebrating a decade of educating and empowering students. Founded in 2015, HIAT has become a pillar in the community, combining academic rigor with creativity and strong family engagement.
Principal Tensia Johnson joined ABC7 Eyewitness News to share what this milestone means to the school and its families, what sets HIAT apart and her vision for the future.
HIAT invites the community to its 10-year anniversary and back-to-school bash on August 8, featuring live music, games, food and family activities at 5861 Harrison St.
