Our Homes Matter phone bank returns $1.7M to Cook Co. homeowners

COOK COUNTY (WLS) -- ABC7 Chicago's annual phone bank helped Cook County homeowners recover money over one million dollars.



The "Our Homes Matter" phone bank is done in partnership with Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas.

In the first 14 minutes of the phone bank, ABC7 Chicago helped connect viewers to $146,000.

The grand total for Thursday was $1.7 million rightfully returned to homeowners.

Residents can also go to in person to the offices on 118 Clark Street to check if they are owed money.

The treasurer's office has nearly $170 million in property tax refunds and exemptions.

$111 million in overpayments and $54 million in missing exemptions are waiting to be claimed.

ABC7 Chicago ensures that residents rightfully claim their money.



The Our Homes Matter phone bank ended at 4:30 pm.
