I-Team Quick Tip: Stolen travel rewards

Updated 2 hours ago
CHICAGO (WLS) -- Your airline miles and hotel points could be worth thousands of dollars, and scammers know it.

Security experts at Bitwarden says hackers are targeting loyalty accounts with messages about fake booking confirmations, flight updates and urgent alerts designed to steal your login information.

Don't click links in unexpected travel texts or emails. Go directly to the airline or hotel's official app or website.

Also, use a unique, strong password for every airline and hotel account and turn on multi-factor authentication whenever it's available.

Remember, those points may not be protected like your bank account, but they're still worth real money.
