IDOT is taking applications for seasonal positions to help with snow-and-ice removal and other maintenance duties throughout the state as part of the annual Snowbird program.
The full-time temporary and hourly on-call positions help maintain more than 45,000 lane miles statewide during winter. Snowbirds promptly respond to emerging weather situations for snow-and-ice removal and must be ready to work in emergency conditions at any time, including nights, weekends and holidays.
The starting salary for full-time temporary employees is $6,044 per month. Hourlies are paid $27.79 an hour.
Applicants must have a Class A or B commercial driver's license with appropriate endorsements to include X or N and no airbrake restrictions. A pre-employment physical and vision test as well as drug and alcohol screening and a criminal background check are required. Veterans are encouraged to apply.
Applications for full-time temporary Winter Salaried Highway Maintainer and hourly Snow Removal Operator positions must be completed at https://illinois.jobs2web.com by Friday, with additional job postings expected.
Once on the website, the easiest way to find the posting is to type the county of preference in the search bar. As soon as the maintenance yard is full, it will be removed from further postings.
