CHICAGO (WLS) -- A community effort is setting the table this holiday season to help Chicago residents who are in need.

Ignite-Futures with Promise and Rock of Our Salvation Church are joining forces with Chef Ora Triest to feed the homeless community.

The annual dinner, called Home for the Holidays" aims to fill even more hearts and bellies this Thanksgiving.

"During the holidays, it's important that we come together as a community to help those who are in need," said Chef Ora. "I enjoy serving and sharing my love for cooking. This is a part of my mission as a chef and a Black woman from Chicago."

This year's dinner, which is on Thanksgiving Day, will be at 5628 West Washington Boulevard. It's free and open to all, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Meals are first come, first served.

Chef Ora visited ABC7 Chicago to talk more about this mission to give back and how others can join the effort.
