CHICAGO (WLS) -- A key gun restriction in Illinois will remain in place after the nation's highest court declined to step in.
The Supreme Court has refused to hear a challenge to a state law that limits how firearms can be carried on public transportation.
The law bans loaded guns on transit systems unless they are unloaded and properly secured.
Cook County State's Attorney Eileen O'Neill Burke praised the decision on Monday, saying public safety must come first.
