FOREST PARK, Ill. (WLS) -- Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias has ordered a suburban community to stop sharing license plate data with U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

An audit filed by Giannoulias discovered that the Forest Park Police Department gave CBP access to the data.

The data sharing was a violation of Illinois state law, Giannoulias said. Any data sharing capabilities have now been shut off.

ABC7 has reached out to the Forest Park Police Department for comment, but have not heard back.

Just last week, the Secretary of State's office discovered that Flock Safety gave border patrol agents access to its cameras across the state. That has also been shut down.
