LOS ANGELES (WLS) -- Indiana native Kyndal Inskeep keeps moving full speed ahead in the "American Idol" competition.

The singer-songwriter said she's set for the live show next Monday. With tough eliminations, Inskeep is ready to survive and stay on the show.

"I'm happy to be here. I'm ecstatic; this has been such a cool opportunity," Inskeep said.

She said she feels like people are hungry for music that makes them feel things.

"I'm really grateful to have been able to resonate with so many people so far, and want to continue to do so. I really feel like there's such an emotional connection, which is beautiful, just the amount of DMs, emails. It's conveying the way I've been trying to say, 'this is how I feel, and that's why I do this,'" Inskeep said.

The connection between Inskeep and her mother jumps out on the show.

"I think she's just really proud to see me come from a place over here, and make it all the way over here. She is telling everybody; I can tell you that," Inskeep said.

She said this experience has already changed her.

"Just being able to stand firm in my authenticity has been teaching me so much. It's showing me what I'm capable of. That makes me emotional. I know there were times in my life where I thought my dreams were dead, and now here I am blooming into who I always knew I wanted to be. And you can't beat that; you just don't beat that," Inskeep said.

Inskeep is hoping the Midwest will come through and vote for her.

Watch "American Idol" at 7 p.m. Monday night.
