Driver charged with DUI in double fatal crash on Kennedy Expressway: ISP

CHICAGO (WLS) -- DUI charges have been filed against a Chicago man accused of causing a deadly crash on the Kennedy Expressway back in March, Illinois State Police said.

The crash happened on Interstate 90 in the West Loop area around 1:45 a.m. on March 15.



ISP said 27-year-old Isaiah Olivas, who was driving a Jeep, rear-ended a Hyundai that was disabled and stopped in the left southbound lane near Randolph Street.

Rashad Dean and Nadinah Cunnings, two people who were in the Hyundai, died at a local hospital, ISP said. Olivas was injured.



Olivas was arrested on Monday and remains in custody.

He is charged with two counts of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence Involving Death and two counts of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence Causing Great Bodily Harm.
