CHICAGO (WLS) -- Jewel-Osco is recalling two fresh salsa products over possible salmonella contamination.
The recall includes Chefs Kitchen Fresh Salsa and Ready Meals Fresh Salsa.
Both have jalapeños that were recalled by Taylor Farms distributor Direct Roots due to their supply chain association with the ongoing FDA recall involving Coast Citrus Distributors.
Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Common symptoms include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.
