Earlier Friday, school officials said they were aware of a rumor about a weapon inside the building at West Campus.
The school entered into a secure and hold protocol, which means everyone stays inside and, in their classrooms, officials said. No one was allowed to enter or exit the building.
No weapon was found, and law enforcement determined the rumor about a weapon to be unsubstantiated, school officials said.
Transportation will be provided to bus riders, and families can now pick up their students.
After-school activities, athletics and events will continue as scheduled unless otherwise communicated by a coach or sponsor.
The Joliet West Varsity Football game will be delayed until 7:30 p.m. with gates opening at 6:30 p.m.
Officials did not immediately provide further information.
