Man struck, killed by Metra train in Brookfield ID'd, death ruled accident, officials say

BROOKFIELD, Ill. (WLS) -- A man was who struck and killed by a Metra train in the west suburbs has been identified.

His death was ruled an accident, officials said.

The crash happened after 5 p.m. Friday in the 8800 block of Burlington Avenue in Brookfield, Metra officials said.



The pedestrian died after the collision.

He was identified as 41-year-old Joshua Medley by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, who ruled his death an accident due to injuries sustained from being hit by a train.

The Metra BNSF line was impacted due to the crash and later resumed with delays, officials said.

The intersection near the crash was closed, but has since reopened, officials said.
