CHICAGO (WLS) -- A judge officially launched her write-in campaign for a Cook County Court vacancy.

Maryam Ahmad decided to run after a criminal investigation was launched into the only person who's on the ballot.

"Being a resident of the fist sub circuit, I feel strongly that members of the first sub circuit should have a viable candidate regardless on the ballot," Ahmad said.

Ahmad is already a judge in a different district. The only person on the ballot is Rhonda Crawford.

She lost her Cook County law clerk job after authorities said she pretended to be a judge and even presided over a case.

The judge who allowed Crawford to sit on the bench is also under investigation.
