'KidneyMobile' offers free health screenings to communities across Illinois

Saturday, November 1, 2025
The National Kidney Foundation of Illinois is shedding more light on a disease, known as a silent killer.

It's estimated that one in three adults in the United States are at risk for kidney disease. Studies show, one in seven US adults has kidney disease, but 90% of them are unaware they have it.

The disease causes more deaths each year than breast cancer or prostate cancer, which is why NKFI is helping people be proactive, with KidneyMobile.

Orange vans travel across the state, offering free kidney health screenings, and consultations with trained medical professionals.

Each year, through their KidneyMobile, the organization screens more than 1,500 people to assess their kidney health.

NKFI relies on volunteers, partners and donors to keep KidneyMobile services free and frequently partners with nursing schools and community groups to provide the highest quality care to all participants. The organization supports more than 55,000 individuals facing kidney disease and/or transplants.
