LAKE COUNTY, Ind. (WLS) -- One person was taken to a local hospital Wednesday after a vehicle crashed into a northwest Indiana home, the Lake County Sheriff's Office said.

Police responded just after 5 p.m. to a crash with injuries at 129th and Tyler, just south of Crown Point, the sheriff's office said.

When police arrived, they saw a Hyundai Santa Fe SUV had left the road, crashed into a home and rolled over, creating a hole in the house.

No one was home at the time, police said.

The driver, a 69-year-old Cedar Lake woman, may have suffered a medical episode, which caused her to lose control of the vehicle, police said.

She was the sole occupant of the SUV.

She was taken to a hospital and stabilized.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
