EVANSTON, Ill. (WLS) -- A lost dog has been reunited with her family in the Chicago area 12 years after she disappeared.

Vanessa Antonino finally held Flor the chihuahua again Wednesday night at the Evanston Animal Shelter.

A volunteer drove her to Evanston from an animal shelter in Gary, Indiana.

Workers there discovered the chihuahua's microchip, linking her to her original owner.

Antonino says her four sons grew up hearing stories about Flor, and they're very excited that their mom's "first baby" is back home.
