Man shoots 2 people, killing 1, inside unincorp. Lowell antiques store, turns gun on himself: police

UNINCORP. LOWELL, Ind. (WLS) -- A gunman allegedly opened fire inside a northwest Indiana antiques store on Saturday night, killing one person and injuring another before turning the gun on himself, police said.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office said Lake County and Indiana State Police officers responded to Karmic Sunshine, located at 2996 West 181st Avenue in unincorporated Lowell, just after 7 p.m.



Investigators said a 62-year-old man fatally shot a female victim and injured a 24-year-old woman who was trying to escape. Police believe the suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The 24-year-old was hospitalized in stable condition.



A child and another man were there when the shooting happened, but they were not injured.

Police are investigating and said there is not further danger to the public.
