Police found the bodies of Sun Marcus, 50, and Samantha Marcus, 17, dead inside the home in the 410 block of Continental Drive after receiving a 911 call around 6:15 p.m. Sunday. Police said Anthony Marcus made the call and allegedly claimed to have killed his family and threatened to kill himself.
Police said the wife and daughter, who was bound to a wheelchair, had both been strangled. The family dog was also found dead in the home.
Neighbors said while the family kept to themselves, they could be spotted playing with their dog outside on a nice day. They also said the family never showed any outward signs of trouble in the home.
"I can't tell you what happened on the inside, but on the outside it seemed OK," one neighbor said, who wished to remain anonymous.
Xavier Caples used to play with the teen victim when they were younger. He didn't interact much with her father, but said he seemed like any other dad.
"He seemed like a cool guy to me, but I never really knew him like that," Caples said. "Like, I see the mom at home every day, but the dad, he probably goes to work."
There is no word yet of any motive but an apparent suicide note written by Anthony Marcus and found by police when they arrived on his doorstep was written for "Michelle".
Caples says that's the family's older daughter. The note read: "I'm sorry your dad is a failure in everything."
A Go Fund Me page has been created to help the family's eldest daughter with funeral expenses and also her upcoming wedding.
Marcus is being held on $5 million bond at Lake County Jail and is due back in court at the beginning of next month.
Autopsies are scheduled for Monday.
