Man killed, woman wounded in shooting near Promontory Point in Hyde Park, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man was killed and a woman was hurt in a drive-by shooting near Promontory Point in the Hyde Park neighborhood Thursday night, Chicago police said.

The shooting took place at about 11:12 p.m. 5400-block of South Shore Drive.



Police said a man and a woman, both 25 years old, were sitting inside a parked vehicle when a vehicle drove past and someone inside fired shots at them.

The man was shot in the stomach and transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.



The woman was shot in the shoulder and transported to the University of Chicago Hospital, where she was listed in fair condition, police said.

Hours earlier Thursday, a man and woman were both found shot to death near the U of C campus in the 5900-block of South Ellis Avenue.

Area One detectives are investigating.
