The shooting happened around 9:56 a.m. on 15th street and Hervey Avenue in Lake County, police said.
The man was found with at least one gunshot wound to his torso. He ws taken to the hospital and was stabilized.
Due to proximity to the shooting, North Chicago Community High School was placed on a precautionary lockdown.
