Matthew Pfister, 37, of North Chicago died from blunt force injuries as a result of the incident, the Lake County, Illinois Coroner's Office said Wednesday.
The deadly workplace incident happened on Tuesday at about 8:52 a.m. at an auto repair shop at 398 W. Liberty St., Wauconda police said.
Police said a vehicle was elevated about 5 feet on a lift when the rear end came off while the victim was underneath.
The victim was pinned under the vehicle when the front end also came off the lift.
Wauconda police said he was crushed beneath the vehicle.
The 37-year-old man died at the scene.
Police were seen at the Hard Times auto repair shop, located near the address officials provided.
Wauconda police and the coroner's office continue to investigate.
