Woman injured after Metra UP-NW train hits vehicle on Northwest Side, officials say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Metra train hit a vehicle Wednesday on the city's Northwest Side, briefly stopping trains in both directions and leaving a woman injured, officials said.



The collision happened in the afternoon near Norwood Park and Gladstone Park, officials said.

A Metra UP-NW struck a vehicle at Bryn Mawr and Northwest Highway, a Metra spokesperson said. The vehicle was clipped by the train did not remain on the tracks after the collision.

A woman in the vehicle was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the spokesperson said.



Trains were stopped in both directions near the area, but have since resumed. The exact length of the delay was not known.
