MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. (WLS) -- Officials from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources said a 14-year-old boy drowned in Lake Michigan near Washington Park in Michigan City, Ind., Monday.
Officials said emergency crews were called to a report of two teen boys struggling in the water around 6 p.m. They said one 14-year-old boy was able to rescue himself at a nearby break wall, while the other 14-year-old boy disappeared under the water about 175 feet from shore.

The Michigan City Fire Department and Michigan City dive team searched the waters and recovered the teen, identified as Travis Mensha of Michigan City, shortly after 7 p.m. He was rushed to St. Anthony's Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
