Bomb squad detonates suspicious package near Midway Airport; arson unit investigating: police

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Chicago police bomb squad unit detonated a suspicious package near Chicago Midway International Airport on Monday.

The package was found in the West Lawn neighborhood's 4700-block of West 59th Street, near a bus turnaround, in the morning hours.



Video captured the sound of the package being detonated. No one was hurt.

The arson unit is now investigating.
