Officials said Morris Firefighter Aron Jaime died in a crash on Sunday. He was off duty at the time.
Jaime was 34 years old and lived in Joliet. Morris Fire Protection said he served 10 years. He became a full-time firefighter in May.
"He was a valued member of the District and will be remembered not only for his professionalism and dedication, but also for his personality and smile that could light up the darkest corner," a spokesperson said.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, located at 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet.
A first responder walk-through will be held at 6:00 p.m.
