Lombard man convicted on hate crime charges, threatened to shoot 2 Muslim men, court docs show

LOMBARD, Ill. (WLS) -- A man was convicted on hate crime charges after he threatened to shoot two men because they are Muslim, court documents show.



Larry York, was convicted of two felony hate crime charges, the DuPage County State Attorney's Office said.

The crime happened in Oct. 2023, prosecutors said he approached one of the victims in a parked car. He began to swear at the man, told him to return to his country and punched the window of the vehicle, prosecutors said.

York then threatened to beat second man in the lobby of an apartment complex.



Prosecutors said York also threatened to call four of his friends to come and shoot the two men.

Nearly three years later, York was sentenced to 180 days in county jail, 30 months probation, and 200 hours of community service.

He was given credit for 47 days he has already served and counseling was also ordered.
