The DuPage County Sheriff's Office said 19-year-old Nedas Revuckas harmed himself while in custody just before 5 p.m. Thursday, hours after he appeared in court.
On Sunday, the sheriff's office said, Revuckas was released from the hospital after being medically cleared for custody. He returned to the DuPage County Correctional Facility.
Revuckas is accused of murdering 30-year-old Eliza Morales and her unborn baby and then setting her Downers Grove apartment on fire on Monday night.
Court records said Morales was stabbed 70 times. Revuckas is accused of stabbing the family's dog, too.
Prosecutors said Revuckas confessed to the attack, saying it stemmed from a vehicle the suspect intended to buy from Morales' husband on Facebook Marketplace.
According to detectives, the suspect stated that he was upset about the condition of the pickup truck and allegedly took out his frustrations on Morales.
Prosecutors said Morales told him she was pregnant during the attack. She was five months pregnant, due to give birth to her second daughter in March.
Neither Morales' husband nor her daughter were home at the time.
Morales' loved ones held a funeral service for her on Thursday.
Relatives say Morales worked in the payroll department at Lurie Children's Hospital, and hoped to have more children with her husband, who was her high school sweetheart.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to support the victim's family.
Revuckas was ordered detained pending his trial on Thursday morning, and he is due back in court on Feb. 18.
