New book takes aim at Cook County criminal court system

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Author Nicole Gonzalez Van Cleve's new book has been called an "eye-opening account" of inequities within Cook County, the nation's largest criminal court system.

"Crook County: Racism and Injustice in America's Largest Criminal Court" provides a searing insider's view of what's described as racism and injustice in that system.

Van Cleve, a native Chicagoan who is an assistant professor in Temple University's Department of Criminal Justice, joined ABC7 on Wednesday to talk about her new book.
