Child critically injured after being hit by vehicle in North Chicago, officials say

NORTH CHICAGO, Ill. (WLS) -- A child was seriously hurt after being hit by a vehicle Thursday afternoon in the north suburbs, fire officials said.

The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. near 20th Street and Honore Avenue in North Chicago.



Fire officials said a medical helicopter was initially requested but then canceled.

The child instead was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
