Indiana State Police said law enforcement is looking for an escapee in the area of Interstate 94 near the Burns Harbor/Porter exit.
The man was last seen in shackles, ISP said. He was wearing a black "Scarface" T-shirt and dark pants.
Chopper 7 is over the scene, where officers and a K-9 could been seen searching in brush along the interstate.
If you see the suspect, call 911 and do not approach him, ISP said.
Authorities did not immediately provide further information.
