Old Joliet Prison hosting Slammers baseball game to celebrate Route 66 centennial

JOLIET, Ill. (WLS) -- Joliet is celebrating its place along Historic US Route 66, marking nearly a century of the "Mother Road."

The southwest suburb is one of the first major stops along the route and a key part of its legacy.



Thursday, visitors are stepping back in time for the centennial celebration.

Thursday afternoon will feature baseball behind bars! The Joliet Slammers take the field at the Old Joliet Prison.
