Marvin Carter, 48, was out on pre-trial release on separate charges when the new alleged attack happened about 5:30 p.m. July 11.
Prosecutors say Carter approached a woman sitting on a bench in the 700-block of West Liberty Drive. When she stood up, prosecutors say Carter punched her in the head.

He's been charged with aggravated battery in a public place, resisting a police officer causing injury, aggravated assault on an officer and misdemeanor battery.
A judge revoked pre-trial release in a previous assault case.
"The allegation that Mr. Carter walked up to an innocent woman and, for no discernable reason at all beat her, are extremely disturbing and will not be tolerated in DuPage County," DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said.
Carter's next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 26.
