Hit-and-run driver kills pedestrian at Morgan Park shopping plaza, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run at a South Side shopping plaza on Monday afternoon, Chicago police said.

Police said the crash happened near 117th and Marshfield in the Morgan Park neighborhood just after 4:45 p.m.



Someone driving an SUV southbound on Marshfield Avenue hit a 45-year-old pedestrian and continued driving, police said.

The victim was pronounced dead on the scene. Their identity was not immediately released.



No one is in custody, and CPD's Major Accidents Unit is investigating.

Police did not immediately provide further information about the crash.
