Pedestrian struck, killed by Metra train in Brookfield, BNSF line delayed, officials say

BROOKFIELD, Ill. (WLS) -- A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Metra train Friday in west suburbs

The crash happened after 5 p.m. in the 8800 block of Burlington Avenue in Brookfield, Metra officials said.



The pedestrian has died, Metra said. The person has not yet been identified.

The exact cause of the collision was not yet known.



The Metra BNSF line was impacted due to the crash and later resumed with delays, officials said.



The intersection near the crash was closed, but has since reopened, officials said.
