Driver dies in Plainfield crash, officials say

PLAINFIELD, Ill. (WLS) -- A driver died in a south suburban crash on Friday morning, officials said.

The Plainfield Fire Protection District Responds said crews responded to the crash near County Line Road and Route 126 just before 7:45 a.m.



A vehicle had left the roadway and stopped in a wooded area, officials said. It suffered heavy damage from the crash.

The driver, the only person inside the vehicle, was pronounced dead on the scene, officials said. Their identity was not immediately released.



Illinois State Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
