CHICAGO (WLS) -- A security guard has been charged with shooting a teenage girl outside of a South Loop Jewel-Osco store on Tuesday night, Chicago police said on Friday.

Police said the shooting happened during a fight near the Roosevelt and Wabash store around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Raven Aikins, 29, is accused of shooting the 17-year-old, who police say was missing from Minnesota, in the leg while working as a security guard for the grocery store.

Officers took Aikins into custody about 15 minutes after the shooting happened. She is charged with Aggravated Battery/Discharge Firearm.

During her detention hearing on Friday, Aikins said she had asked the teen and three other people, who had all allegedly shoplifted before, to leave the store.

A witness also told ABC7 that the teen allegedly threw a drink at a security guard.

A judge released Aikins during her detention hearing on Friday, but ordered her to surrender any firearms and her FOID card and Concealed-Carry License to police.

Aikins will be back in court on Oct. 2.
