7 Save A Lot stores on South, West Sides expected to close Saturday with no apparent deal

CHICAGO (WLS) -- It appears no deal has been reached to keep Chicago's seven Save A Lot stores open, which means they will close Saturday.

Most of the locations are on the South and West sides.

In Morgan Park Friday, many of the shelves were already empty.

"I think it's pretty sad, you know. They keep taking resources from us, and we don't really have that much. And just to see the store gone, it leaves no hope for the community," Morgan Park resident Dejuan Taylor said.

Save A Lot says Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program cuts have impacted the company.

"I think it's horrible. Where are we gonna shop at? You got people that don't drive and what not. This is convenient for us," Morgan Park resident Nadine said.

Save A Lot had partnered with retail company Yellow Banana in 2023 in an effort to keep stores open in Chicago, but the company said that partnership is now ending.
