DUPAGE COUNTY, Ill. (WLS) -- A driver is facing DUI charges after hitting an Illinois State Police squad car in DuPage County on Sunday morning, injuring himself and an ISP trooper, officials said.

The crash happened on the right shoulder of westbound Interstate 88 at milepost 139 around 4 a.m.

ISP said a trooper parked their squad car, with the emergency lights on, behind a broken-down truck to help its driver.

That's when 24-year-old Sebastian G. Rodriguez failed to move over and drove his Tesla into the squad car's rear passenger side, pushing it into the back of the truck.

Both Rodriguez and the trooper, who was inside the squad car when the crash happened, were hospitalized with injuries. ISP did not immediately provide details on their conditions.

The crash disabled and damaged the squad car, which was towed from the scene.

Rodriguez, of Romeoville, was charged with Driving Under the Influence and Aggravated Scott's Law/Move Over Law violations.
