The crime happened around 3:30 a.m. in the 3500 block of Dempster Street in Skokie.
The thieved smashed the glass of the front door of the liquor store, went inside and started grabbing bottles, officials said. The owner told ABC7 about $10,000 worth of liquor was taken and about $100 in coins were taken from a register.
Video then showed them taking off quickly in a white car as police arrived. Another angle shows their car hitting a police squad car.
Police stopped three of the five suspects, two juveniles and one adult. The two other suspects were believed to have left the area, officials said.
The white car was determined to have been stolen from Chicago, and a stolen firearm was also recovered.
Two police officers were hurt during the investigation, but are okay, officials said.
Police have not said what charges the suspects face as the investigation continues.
The owner told ABC7 his business is broken into "once every three weeks," and this is the first a break-in ended in arrests.
