Investigation underway after body found in Fox River, South Elgin fire officials say

SOUTH ELGIN, Ill. (WLS) -- An investigation is underway after a body was found in a west suburban river on Tuesday, fire officials said.

The South Elgin Fire Department said the body was found in the Fox River near the 100-block of North Center Street.



The person's identity was not immediately released. It was not immediately clear how they ended up in the water or how long they had been there.

Police are now investigating, the fire department told ABC7.



Authorities did not immediately provide further information.
