HAMMOND, Ind. (WLS) -- No more stainless-steel bottles in Hammond, Indiana classrooms.

The School City of Hammond district said metal drink containers are banned in classrooms.

In a release, the district says the containers can be used as weapons.

The district did not say the reason, other than "out of an abundance of caution."

Students can still use plastic drink containers in school.
