Rideshare driver hospitalized after picking up package, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A rideshare driver called 911 after he started to feel sick shortly after picking up a package, Chicago police said.



Police responded to the call in the 2200-block of N. Monticello Avenue on Monday at about 9:54 p.m.

The rideshare driver said he picked up a package near the 3600-block of W. Palmer Avenue.

The driver and his female passenger started to feel "unwell" and called 911, police said.



Both were taken to an area hospital. At last check, police said they were listed in "fair condition."

The Chicago Fire Department Hazmat team responded to the scene to get the package.



Officials have not said what was inside the package.

No other information was available.
