Swim ban lifted, all Chicago beaches safe, park district says

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A swim ban imposed at several Chicago's beaches on Sunday following heavy rains was lifted at about 4 p.m., according to a Chicago Park District tweet.

The ban was imposed due to elevated levels of bacteria at the following beaches: Oak Street, North Avenue, Montrose, Foster, Osterman, Lane, Hartigan, North Shore, Helen Doria, Tobey Prinz, Loyola, Leone, Marion Griffin, Fargo, Howard, Rogers and Juneway Beach.

Due to the rain, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District opened the lock at Wilmette and the Chicago River downtown, according to the park district.
