Teen carjacks woman in Carson's parking lot in Hammond

HAMMOND, Ind. (WLS) -- A 63-year-old woman was carjacked Monday evening in the parking lot of the Carson's department store in Hammond, Ind., police said.

At about 8 p.m., the woman was approached by a male teenager with a handgun in the lot, located in the 6600-block of Indianapolis Boulevard in Hammond, police said.

The boy told her to leave her car keys, purse and 2011 Mercedes. The offender drove away in her gray-colored vehicle. She was not injured.

A Chevrolet Camaro, which was reported stolen shortly before the Carson's carjacking, was found in the same Carson's parking lot. The Camaro was stolen from south suburban South Holland.
